UX/UI FOR VOLUNTEER’S MANAGEMENT TOOL
The project consists of an ongoing volunteer management tool for small to medium size charity organisations. The main goal of the project was designing an intuitive platform that could help Edinburgh small to medium size charity organisations manage their roles and volunteers from the start of the recruitment process till the end of their volunteering. Some of the challenges were assuming the product design role, where I had to create product plans, visually communicate the user needs and journeys to developers and utilising new tools like product backlogs. Another challenge was the lack of budget for user testing which forced me to mostly rely on design principles and inspection methods.
What I did
I met the brief of the project by identifying the different user problems, defining the user journeys and thereafter designing a simple and intuitive web app that covers all the different users' needs. My role was as a product, user experience and user interface designer within a group of three back end and front end developers and one project management. We used Jira to keep track of the process, the app is being built using React and Material UI framework, and I used Sketch and Invision to create the high-fi prototypes.
